Seward Hotels

We are considering from staying a night or two in Seward for a Glacier cruise and possibly horesback riding? The Edgewater seems like the nicest Hotel in town and possibly the only one with a Day Spa in house. I%26#39;m wondering why it does not get better reviews. Is there anywhere else in town or around (we may drive down) that would have views, a balcony, a spa, and the other amenities?

Seward Hotels

The Holiday Inn has harbor View rooms with gorgeous views. Don%26#39;t believe thay have a spa, however. We had a huge room when we stayed there, and it is conveniently located.

I%26#39;ve noticed that several persons on this forum look for hotels with spas and other luxurious amenities. As for myself, I was rarely in the hotel because there was so much to do outside.

Hope you enjoy your stay.

Seward Hotels

I%26#39;m not looking for an extremely luxurious hotel. I want to be outside as much as possible and I don%26#39;t want a manicure or facial. We will just be flying for at least 12 hours (from south Florida) and I hope to ride horses and do some hiking. I just wanted to make sure I could get a massage if necessary. Also, I have noticed some places don%26#39;t have private bathrooms or AC. I want to be careful.

No need for AC.

Hi, We just returned from Seward and had two hotel experiences. We had originally booked into Windsong Lodge for several nights. We ended up staying one( due to a delay of our trip early on). The rooms were nice and the area was removed and quiet. We walked to a great dinner at the Salmon Bake. However, the shuttle bus only ran on the hour ( not every 15 min, as stated in their brochure) and it did not start until 7 AM( too late for the early morning fishing trips) and stopped at 10 ( too early if you wanted to stay in town late). There were taxi%26#39;s but I am sure they were expensive. Not sure about parking in town since we did not have a car. Also, there was construction on the way to town.

We were forced to make a last minute reservation at the Breeze Inn. WE had originally eliminated that motel from what we had seen on the web but, it turned out to be the only space left for a last minute reservation. WE ended up loving it. Rooms are just hotel like but large enough and very clean. We were in the Annex which I would recommend. The other rooms faced other buildings but we had a great water view right over the main street. It was not noisy at all ( something we had read on the hotel review sight). This proved to be so easy and convenient for all of the activites and access to a lot of great food. WE would deffinetly stay there again. The Edgewater looked great but we had heard there was construction going on there so we had not booked that. It is also in the downtown area across from the Sea Life Center but a good 1/2 hour walk to the small boat harbor($5 taxi). The Holiday Inn looked like it would be fine too. It was booked when we started looking. Good luck.

We%26#39;ve stayed at the Windsong and enjoyed the stay, the condo style room was quite comfortable. The smell of the Pine trees and crisp air were a wonderful change from staying in town. The restaurant was nothing special, and the service was average. A car would be a priority with this out of town location.

Cabin on the Cliff is a really cute little log cabin with a kitchen, 2 levels, brass beds, fireplace, and a jacuzzi overlooking the boat harbor.

Edgewater is one of the more spendy along with Windsong and The Holiday Inn which is the newest and is only place with a pool. Negatives may have to do with price...not alot of value for what your paying. $250 for a room with no ac, not that we really need it but if we get one of those rare 90%26#39;s day I sure would want it.

I don%26#39;t recommend horseback riding here in Seward. Much better horses and trails in Cooper Landing and Horse Trekkin in Anch.

Welcome back to the forum Renee. I%26#39;ve missed your postings. I had an absolutely fabulous time in Seward. Everything was what you had described...from the fabulous Kenai Fjords, the SeaLife Center, Exit Glacier, and the fabulous meal at the Salmon Bake. Even convincing me to take the train to Anchorage instead of the bus was another wonderful plus. Thank you again for your input.

How far away is the Holiday Inn from the Edgewater or the Breeze Inn? It would seem very handy to be able to walk to dinner.

We also stayed at the breeze inn at the end of august. There was nothing wrong with the room-quite a reasonable size. The position is great-just cross the road to the wharves for your day cruise or fishing charter. Also there is Rays restaurant which we felt was the best value restaurant we went to in Alaska. At least they knew how to cook salmon-not dry and overdone as we found everywhere else.

Unfortunately the drawback was the noise. From about 6am the industrial bins were being emptied.Maybe this doesnt happen everyday but certainly did the 2 mornings we were there.
