What do you think of the segway tours of Anchorage city?
Segway tour of Anchorage
I think that the streets of downtown Anchorage are far too crowded and fast-moving to add Segways to the mix. Somebody%26#39;s going to get hurt.

Segway tour of Anchorage
What is the best way to see Anchorage?
We took the segway tour about 2 weeks ago. First of all, the streets of Anchorage were so much quieter than Chicago. We spent most of the time on the sidewalk, in plazas, and in a bike lane. I never felt that I was unsafe in traffic or that we were endangering others. We received about 20 minutes of training and practice before we were turned loose on the public. Our guide did a nice job narrating the tour and catering it to our interests.
The tour took about two hours and we did see most of the major sites within the downtown area and the waterfront. We also stopped three times to rest for a few minutes and our guide took our pictures on the segways. This was our first activity of a two day stay, and we felt it did give us a great overview of the city.
You do need to make reservations by email ahead of time, and I would recommend you reconfirm the day before, as our guide forgot we had a reservation, and was a half hour late. But once we got going, we did enjoy the experience.
How much does this tour cost and where do you find out about it online?
Googling ';anchorage alaska segway'; produced http://www.alaskasegway.com/
Whoops - the tour company is http://www.segtours.net/
