Have any of you done white water rafting on the Matanuska river? How was it? I am considering the Lion Head trip with Nova. Are the rapids nice class 3 and 4? And how is the scenery?

I have taken the trip once and it is nice. Some rapids, enough for buying the great picture they offer at the end of the trip but nothing too scary. The scenery is spectacular.

A good friend of mine took the trip and said they were all fairly mild. If that%26#39;s what you%26#39;re looking for that by all means take that trip. However, if you want something more nerve racking and adventuresome, yet still fairly close to home I would recommend going down to 6 Mile Creek in Hope, which is about an hour and a half on the OTHER side of Anchorage. Those rapids are trully thrillling and continuing on through the whole experience is definitely a must. I would do it again in a heartbeat. The company to go with is definitely Chugach Outdoor Center

My friends said that the Matsu raft trip is good for relaxing most of the time. So consider if you want the adventurous one or a semi-slow paced one.
