I am from Los Angeles and would like to narrow down to a few good cruise lines. What are some good package or cruise lines to Alaska? Which to avoid and which to consider? Where should I start researching? I am thinking of going in May 07 for 6 to 7 nights. Thanks!
Glenn
Good cruise package
Go to cruisewest.com. They have several packages and use small ships so that you get to go places the huge liners cannot.
Good cruise package
For the vast majority of people who don%26#39;t have a CruiseWest budget, all of the large lines do a fine job in Alaska - it%26#39;s the specific itinerary that makes the difference. In terms of weather, you want late May, not early May, which can still be quite cold - 2 weeks can make a huge difference. Late May and June are also the driest months of the cruise season.
A lot of it comes down to your very specific interests - all ports have highs and lows depending on your interests. Quality shore excursions are a must to get a real Alaska experience, and shouldn%26#39;t be scrimped on. Glaciers are high on most people%26#39;s lists of ';must-sees';, and that means they need to go to Hubbard Glacier, Glacier Bay and/or College Fiord - that%26#39;s in no particular order because they are all amazing. If glacier calving is a priority, Hubbard wins as number 1. You%26#39;ll see some itineraries that have Tracy Arm as a glacier cruising day, but in fact few of the large ships get within sight of the Sawyer Glaciers due to ice or time constraints.

Thanks for the link. I will check it out in response to my post. I had been looking for a forum like the one you listed but had not found it yet. Thanks again!
