Does anyone know if national park 6 hours tour with kenai fjords tours is a good tour to do? thank you. For September 9, 2006

Yes, good tour. If you can do the tour that includes the meal at Fox Island, that would be even better.

thanks i see there are 2 companies major marine and kenai fjords tours, which one is better? major marine is much cheaper and includes buffet. thanks

I took the six hour tour with Major Marine and loved it! On the way toward the park in Resurrection Bay I saw sea otters and a little other wildlife. When we started going into the fjords, we actually saw a black bear in the water, which is very rare (it could easily become and orca%26#39;s snack). The turning point was Holgate Glacier... the temperature dropped ten degrees and there were ice bergs floating in the water (the crew lifted on aboard for us). The most amazing thing was so see what I call an ';ice waterfall'; into the water, about one step short of it actually calving. Very cool!

On the way out we saw much more wildlife. Porpoises rode the current under the boat, I saw a tail fluke of a humpback, sea lions basking on shore, and thousands upon thousands of sea puffins.

I opted out of the buffet and packed my own lunch to avoid the expensive price. The food looked good, though. There was also two rangers aboard giving information about everything; very clear and good commentary. I wouldn’t recommend the stop on Fox Island. While I did not do this, I don%26#39;t see the sense of spending your time there instead of in the park.

The most memorable part of my kids trip was the tour. I would recommend Fox Island after being there. I will not comment on Major Marine because I don%26#39;t comment on what I haven%26#39;t done personally. It sounds like you are getting good reviews from either, so it should work out well for you. Have fun.

We went with Kenai Fjords Tours; they did a great job. Captain was first rate, both in his knowledge and in the way he handled the ship. I recommend the early sailing as the ships are less crowded, the animals are more active, and the boat traffic is less congested.

We added an night and stayed on Fox Island with Kenai Fjords tours and then took the tour to Northwestern Glacier. I believe that this is the only tour company to go there. The Fox Island experience was spectacular. Boat tour was also grand. If you have the time I would definately recommend this experience.

I second Alaskarookie%26#39;s comments on the Fox Island overnight through Kenai Fjord Tours. We were there Aug 17 %26amp; 18. Wish we had scheduled it for 2 nights.
