Anchorage on September 23-26

I am traveling to Anchorage on 23, leaving on 26th. I have two short days to do something. I would like an outdoor acitivity, e.g. sea kayaking. Is it too late in season for sea kayaking, from whittier, for example.

What else would anyone recommend.

Thanks!

RRoagers, I suggest renting a car and spending one day in Seward. Go kayaking from there. Visit Exit Glacier. Take a day cruise to the Kenai Fjords National Park. You need to check with them since this time of the year they have limited schedule. There are endless outdoor activities in Anchorage and near by. Go hiking to Eagle River Nature. Car is needed to get there. Go to Hatcher Pass, again you need a car. Drive on Glen Highway to Matanuska Glacier and take a guided hike with crampons. Check whether they open or not. There many activities in Anchorage. try to find my post ';Things to do in Anchorage.'; I listed 63 things to do and see right in Anchorage. Chose whatever appeals to you.

Appreciate reply; but, kayaking companies I have checked with so far to not have kayaking schedule this late in September. Their schedule either ends in August or early September. If you have information on a company that runs through end of September, please provide.

Thanks!

There are so few visitors after about the 15th that many companies pack up gear that has to be stored for the winter. You might try posting this on the Seward forum or calling the Seward Visitor%26#39;s Bureau (number should be easy to find with a google search) to see what they know. You might consider going to Homer and taking the ferry to Seldovia or Halibut Cove where you might find some kayaking. The water is getting chilly now and you would need dry suits probably. lConsider instead land based things as we are having a pleasant Fall and there is still plenty to do on land. Hope you have a great trip!
