Well, the Alaska Railroad only offers daily rail service during the summer and their service is extremely limited in the winter, though very interesting . . . the train from Anchorage to Fairbanks runs on Saturday heading North and is a whistlestop - stops for anyone along the tracks . . . and then turns around and heads south from Fairbanks on Sunday. They have a few holiday trains as well, you would have to check their schedule.www.alaskarailroad.com

You could find a very romantic B%26amp;B or lodge, probably in the Girdwood or Anchorage area . . .It will be cold and dark . . .I guess it%26#39;s a matter of personal preference. The rates will be far cheaper now than in the summer, so that is a plus, and you would get to enjoy a taste of winter, and possibly Northern lights . . . depends what else you want to do. Good luck! :)

You stand a good chance of having a great time if you come up with a sense of adventure and discovery. Consider taking the train one way and flying back, that way you can plan some very worth while activities in Fairbanks. I don%26#39;t have any romantic B %26amp; B%26#39;s to recommend off the top of my head, but consider Chena Hot Springs along with B %26amp; B%26#39;s, for a part of your stay. That can be very romantic.

Now any numbers you read on the temperatures will FEEL warmer than you expect them to. Fairbanks has a dry cold and it is not a bone-crunching cold the way it is in wet (humid) areas (like the eastern US). Now November has a 12 F average high and a -6 F average low in November

Now for an example of the Aurora, http://www.ems.psu.edu/~lno/Meteo437/aurora10a.JPG

If you are into reading graphs, here is what we had for temperatures in Novmber 2005:

I hope that is not too much of an overload. If it is, just come up and enjoy yourselves!
