Place to stay in or near Cooper Landing

My husband and I are traveling to Alaska in July and are planning to tour the Kenai Peninsula. Since we are not going on a Princess cruise, it is not possible to get into the Kenai Princess which would have been our first choice. Does any one have any suggestions for nice, clean, accomodations in that area? We have read about several , but can%26#39;t seem to get a definitive answer on which one is the best. Thanks, everyone. Barbara, I think you got this wrong. Everyone can stay at Princess lodges even if not going on a Princess cruise. All you have to do is to go to the website and book if rooms are still available for your dates. We stayed in two of the lodges and found them just like any other average hotels except they are sometimes so busy with tours that an individual traveler gets often lost.

Barbara,

The Kenai Princess is a very nice place to stay. The rooms are suite style with separate bedroom and living area. Also, I believe each room has a wood burning fireplace.

Last season you could get a room for $100 off the normal price on Wednesdays. You could also stay 2 nights for the price of one using the Toursaver book. Similar information about the coming season may not be announced until January or February.

Thanks for your quick response. I did try to get into the Kenai but they said they were all booked for the dates in July that we wanted. However, when I called the travel agent, she said they could get us rooms through a tour operator. Obviously, they hold out certain rooms for their good operators. We were concerned, though, with how much extra we would be charged doing it this way. The hotel won%26#39;t even give me a rate since they say they have no rooms, so I have no basis for comparison. Maybe I will just wait a while and see if things open up there.
