Eating in Alaska

Alaska doesn%26#39;t have cheap restaurants - some are just more expensive than others.

Hi there! Well, even our fast food costs more than in the lower 48 . . . that is why we are always recommending that people try to buy at least some of their food at grocery stores and/or stay in B%26amp;B%26#39;s or places that offer breakfast. It can be a real cost savings! As far as dining out goes, get recommendations for good food - I would rather spend a bit more for good food (doesn%26#39;t have to be fancy) than pay a bit less for bad food. There are many of the familiar chain restaurants in the Anchorage area . . . so at least you would know what to expect from those. Hopefully our local Anchorage expert will mention her favorites. My favorite breakfast place (lunch, too) is Snow City Cafe in the downtown area - excellent food/reasonable prices.

Don%26#39;t know if that helps much - just know you will spend more on food when planning your travel budget. Best of luck! :)
