We will be in Healy in about 10 days. We are doing a bus trip into Denali Park. We have two daughters 8 %26amp; 11. Will we need to bring bug spray? With or without deet?

Well - if you are just going on the bus, not hiking around, you may not even need some bug dope - but certain areas can be worse than others, so I would travel prepared. You didn%26#39;t mention what airport you were coming in to, but I would stop at Fred Meyers or Walmart or REI or any sports store, and pick up some bug dope prior to going any where else. Yes, the stuff w/deet is the most effective, but I believe there are some milder types for use w/children. I often bought the stuff w/citronella for my kids - much less toxic. I often seems to me that it%26#39;s a personal thing - peoples individual tolerance for mosquitos - as well as the type of season we are having. Last year, they weren%26#39;t very bad up here, but they were horrible in the Mat-Su area. If you are actually staying in Healy, bugs never are bad because there is always a bit of a breeze which helps. Hope this answered your question, Deb and good luck! :)

Thanks Coalminer for your reply. We are flying into Anchorage and will just stop and pick some up. I think it could be easier than packing and having it leak. Thanks again.

We live in Florida and have misquitoes. How bad are they in July?

%26lt;How bad are they in July?%26gt; Hmm! So hard to answer. It all depends on weather, amount of rain, snow, area, time of the day, your sensitivity. We never had a problem but once around Wonder Lake in Denali Park in June. Be always prepared and bring a bug spray. Yo may not need it all but better to be ready.
