Moosepass dining

Looked at some TA forums and saw recommendations for staying in Moosepass vs. Seward. We saw about a 30 minute drive to Seward. Are there many places for going out to eat in Moosepass?

Looks rather small.

Moose Pass is very small with not much to do. One restaurant/bar/lodge combo and a small grocery store.

so Seward would be better for more dining options?

Seward has alot more of everything. If you blink while driving through Moose Pass, you%26#39;ll miss it. ; )

Yup to everything said so far, but I have to add that Moose Pass is quite pleasant if you take the time to pull off the road instead of treating it as a speed bump! The log-cabin lodge-gar-restaurant that was mentioned is a regular stop for a meal so I can show visitors how nice an Alaskan Roadhouse can be. It has good food, great people and true Alaskan as opposed to commercial atmosphere. The food is good and quite plentiful. I recommend you stop for at least one meal there. It is only 40 miles outside of Seward %26amp; well worth the stop.

Now interpret NONE of that to take anything away from Seward. It is a great place, and is also my choice when I visit there %26amp; all the great things to do.

Moose Pass and Seward just compliment one another quite well, one coastal, and the other right in the mountains.

I have to agree with the previous poster. The restaurant in Moosepass was the very first eatery we dined in during our recent visit to Alaska. The rustic environment , and excellent food, was a wonderful welcome following a week on a cruise ship. There was a stream near the restaurant where I got my first glimpse of salmon swimming up stream.

On the other hand, Seward was where we spent the night, and where I had my first Alaskan dinner ...at the Salmon Bake. Another ';true Alaskan fare'; restaurant, with excellent food, friendly people, wonderful ambience. Ahhh! The memories are returning.

Definitely more to do in Seward.

we ended up making reservations in Seward-but sounds like you made a good recommendation in Moosepass-we will try-like you said a good balance!
