November weather in Ketchikan?

We have just five hours to spend there, a stopover en route to my brother-in-law%26#39;s wedding outside. It will be from about 1pm to 6pm if the flights are on time. ';We'; includes myself, husband, and two small kids. It will be the 9th or 10th of November. I expect rain: should I expect worse? Is it worth going over to town from Gravina Island, or should we just plan to sit tight and wait for our connecting flight? (Let%26#39;s hope there%26#39;s no fog.)

Advice?

November weather in Ketchikan?

Definitely take the small ferry over to Ketchikan.......the airport is quite small........the kids will enjoy the small ferry (you can ride inside or out on the deck)....It was free last time we were there..

.......you may want to call a cab from the airport to meet you on the other side, especially if it%26#39;s rainy, the cabby can take you to the downtown area, shops, restaurants and museum, totem poles and statues......There is one restaurant on a hill that has a tram-thing that carries people up to it (don%26#39;t remember the name)..........even if it%26#39;s raining or snowing, the town would be a far better place to kill a few hours than the airport.......

Speaking of fog, that was why we were in Ketchikan the first time.......the airline didn%26#39;t know if they could make it from Seattle to Juneau, so gave the passengers the option of staying in Seattle or risk having to turn around in Juneau and come back anyway......well, a handful of we brave ones chose to carry-on.......only got as far as Ketchikan and had to off-load everything (even checked baggage) at 1:00 in the morning, carrying everything down the switchback sidewalk to the ferry (cold January night, fortunately no rain/snow)......They have a bulletin board next to the phone at the airport that advertises ';stranded'; rates at the motels, so everyone was scrambling calling those places first......what a night !!......the pilot instructed us to meet back at the airport at 6 the next morning and we would ';try it again';......... Traveling in Alaska, you gotta love it !!

Thank you, Mombear! It%26#39;s funny, we are going to be in Ketchikan because the nice lady at Alaska Airlines said that it was less likely to be fogged in than Juneau. I am looking forward to it. My family has never been, and I was so young (ferry trip, long ago) that I can%26#39;t really remember much.
