We are a family of 5 planning a trip to the Kenai Peninsula in July 2007 and are not familiar with the fishing charters and lodging for that area. We are looking at staying in Seward for 4 -5 days and then stay in Soldotna for 3-4 days. We would like to fish for kings in the ocean and maybe a day fishing in the Kenai River. There are quite a few places for charters and lodging. Does anyone have any good experiences with certain outfits in those areas? There are quite a few on the internet and sometimes you really don%26#39;t know if they are reputable or not. Any feed back would be appreciated.
Fishing and Lodging in SewardIn Seward...Alaska Saltwater Lodge has a great location right on the beach. They do fishing charters and wildlife cruises too. You might be able to get a package deal.
There is 2 fish charter booking companies here .....
The Fish House located in the small boat is good.
Stay away from Charter Options because of the fact that they make people check in at the Edgewater which is located downtown and then you head to the boat harbor to get on your boat. Very inconvienent unless your staying at the hotel.
Former and active military can stay at the rec camp and the Seward Resort, which is very nice! They also have fishing charters.
Fishing and Lodging in SewardJust REALLY saw your name...snagging is legal here! LOL
Thanks Glacierlady! I found a charter called Alaska Outfitters and they have availability to take us out the days we are in Seward. Have you heard of them and how are they? We found a house to rent so we only need the charter. By the way, I know it is illegal to snag fish but the name is from the area we are in!! Funny you noticed it.
Thanks for the input on Miller%26#39;s Landing - I did read about it in earlier posts. We will stay clear of them. We are looking forward to visiting Alaska.
It is LEGAL to snag fish here. Haven%26#39;t heard of Alaska Outfitters...sorry.
In defense of Miller%26#39;s Landing....They have been here for a very long time. I really don%26#39;t believe they would rip someone off or steal credit card info. File a report with the BBB and the chamber of commerce. While it%26#39;s not suitable for everyone to stay there, it does have it%26#39;s place and fills peoples needs in many ways.
Just FYI I have stayed at millers landing twice over the last 5 years. They do have RV parking by the water and boat rental%26#39;s.I never had a problem.True it might not fit the bill for some.
