Hi everyone..this is our fourth trip to Alaska....and this time we are planning to go to Fairbanks. My husband would like to go to the Gates to the Arctic National Park/Coldfoot....so...we are wondering how long of a drive it is from Fairbanks to Coldfoot.
My understanding is that we will need to take the Dalton Highway which is mostly comprised of gravel...not a problem for us....but just wondering what rental car agencies in Fairbanks will allow you to take one of their cars on this trek?
Also, can you recommend a great fishing guide for my husband and teenage son as they always make it a ';must do'; to fish for at least one full guided day ( if not more!)
We plan to come for two weeks from June 13th to the 27th ...thanks for your help...we also posted this in the Fairbanks forum in the hopes of getting some local opinion too..
drive from Fairbanks to Coldfoot...need some input
National Car Rental in Fairbanks is your best bet. Also, GoNorth is a local tour company that has cars available. If you want an SUV or pickup then book early. Also contact the Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce.
