anchorage accommodation
Muzza. I work here at a hotel in Anchorage, Alaska. Let me tell you during the summer you%26#39;ll be very hard up to find a reasonably priced hotel. I suggest you look online for special rates especially with Marriot (where I work) , such as AAA, AARP etc, as sometimes they forget to close out winter rates (which go for around $70), instead of summer rates which go for around $179. The cheapest for summer here you will find for regular rates would be the Motel 6, which will run you $129 + 12% tax on a good day ($144.48) for a single person. My advice to you, if you ARE going to look for a lower priced hotel, such as Super 8, Motel 6, etc, go for the Motel 6 as they are only 2 years old and not too terribly horrendous. Good luck :)
anchorage accommodationmuzza, first you need to help us so we can help you. Please define ';reasonably priced accommodation.'; What is your price range? Do you prefer staying in hotels/motels or B%26amp;Bs? There are many choices available. Without a car you need to stay somewhere in a center from where you can walk to things you want to see.
As to what to see in Anchorage, we don%26#39;t know what are your priorities. I just brought to the top the post where I listed 63 things to do and see in Anchorage. Try to read my post and decide what appeals to you.
Native Heritage Center is definitely a great introduction to Alaskan culture and history. If you decide to visit Museum of History and Art then you can catch a free shuttle from there to Native Heritage Center and get discount if you are visiting both places in one day.

Hi misslatin and places
We think around $150-200 US for 2 people is reasonably priced for 1 nights accomm. Like B%26amp;B%26#39;s as long as clean (don%26#39;t need TV) as we will be too busy exploring.
The deal of the Museum of History and Native Heritage Centre sounds just right.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi again
Just checked Marriot - no vacany.
Motel 6 $135 plus 12% tax available which is in our price range.
As we are from overseas can we claim back the tax?
Thanks Muzza
Marriott Downtown would be well over $200. Other Marriotts wouldn%26#39;t be convenient without a car. There are other places so don%26#39;t worry. I did not stay in any hotels I am listing below but I remember they are all located right downtown so you can walk almost everywhere.
Westmark
Voyager
Captain Cook
Clarion
Days Inn on 5th
Holiday Inn on 4th
Susitna Place B$B
We have a wonderful local expert from Anchorage here on this forum so hopefully she sees your post and follows with some comments on any of the places I listed or recommend something else conveniently located.
Motel 6 is on Seward Highway and Tudor so it is too far if you do not have a car.
Looked at hotels and susitna place b%26amp;b.
Liked the look of the b%26amp;b reasonably priced Katmai room $125 + tax
Has anybody stayed there?
I think that the Museum is not far to walk from this B%26amp;B.
Muzza
Yes, you can easily walk to many attractions
Check another b%26amp;b within walking distance to a number of places downtown. Again, I never stayed there so this is not a personal recommendation. A friend of mind is going to stay there next summer. This place provides free transportation from and to the airport.

Also Alaska%26#39;s Coastal Trail B%26amp;B gets good reviews

Thanks ';places'; - checked Caribou B%26amp;B looks nice and clean and free shuttle from airport helps us. No reviews on tripadvisor though.
Another tripadvisor b%26amp;b ';G Street'; seems very central and within walking distance of the Museum.
Also thanks for the extensive list of things to do in Ancorage in an earlier email - we will use this list as a guide.
