Accomodations Denali and Kenai areas

I looking for recommendations on accomodations at Healy/Denali Nat%26#39;l Park area and also in Kenai/Homer or Seward area. We have 2 boys ages 12 and 9. We were thinking of the Princess Lodges, but based upon comments by Coalminer and Places, I%26#39;d be interested in other places. Bed/Breaksfasts might not be ideal for my boys if they are geared towards guests preferring ';quiet'; or ';romance'; and might not appreciate 2 active boys (although they are pretty well behaved). Looking at a price range of $150 up to $350. Any thoughts?

Thanks, CKN2007

HI there! Yes, I think there are several places here that would work better than a hotel . . . where active boys would have some space to run around as well as you could choose a place that has basic kitchen stuff, so that you have a bit more flexibility with meals/kids. I think one that would be good would be Denali suites - they are a four plex apartment - 2 bedroom w/ full kitchen and living room. There are also several larger cabins that would fit the bill as well, such as Aspen Haus or Denali Lakeside Lodging. These are all in your price range as well. Let me know if you need more suggestions. :)

Alaskan Suites in Homer. They have a hot tub and a back porch that you can sit and watch the boats leave the harbor and the eagles fly close by. The cabins awesome!! Safeway grocery is close by so you can stock up on groceries and save a few $$ vs eating out. Also, if you fish while you are there, the grill out back allows to cook your catch fresh.

This has always been our favorite places to stay on the Kenai peninsula......

cabins fully equipped and spotless....nicely arranged on the wooded property for privacy......lots of ';running room'; for your boys.......you can walk down to Morgan Landing State Park for fishing and interpretive hiking trails........Hannah and Greg can help you with suggestions of trails, rafting trips, etc.....they also have a great lending library of plant, mushroom, animal identification........

I say treat yourself if that is what your budget is!

Alyeska Resort in Girdwood is fantastic, and though not far on the way to the Kenai area - it is an amazing little place!

In Seward - The Seward Windsong Lodge looked GREAT (though we didn%26#39;t stay there). We were at the Holiday Inn Express which was OK, but didn%26#39;t have the best service though the location was wonderful.

Doesn%26#39;t matter who you go with, and there are several operators, but you have to go out on a Kenai Fjords Cruise. AMAZING! We used Kenai Fjords Tours and were very happy with them.

Sorry - don%26#39;t know about Homer, etc.

There are some great places to stay in Homer in your price range. Some B$Bs have separate cabins where I think your family with two boys would feel very comfortable and have lots of freedom. This type of cabin or chalet would give you also an option to have a kitchen so you can store some food and or prepare some meals for your boys.
