Greetings from Dillsburg Pa ! we are planning a return trip to the ';great land'; in fall 2007. The last trip we went in June-July. This trip we want to capture on film, the fall colors both in Denali %26amp; places like the Kenai Penisula. Any suggestions as to the best times of year. We are planning prox 1rst week of Sept.as a start %26amp; planning on staying 2 weeks.
alaska trip- fall 2007
Greetings from interior Alaska! Well, I think showing up here that first part of Sept would be great . . . colors should be great then. Not sure of your specific dates, but the carpets are pretty much rolled up for all the tourist related businesses by the middle of September here in Denali - in fact, this last Fall, many were closed by the 12th . . . something to consider into your planning. The season is later everywhere else. Good luck! :)
alaska trip- fall 2007
Hi m%26amp;m,
Your timing seems good for the fall colors. You already know there is quite a latitude change from Kenai to Fairbanks. Even if the season is early or late, if you have the flexibility to head north for south to the best colors you can%26#39;t go wrong. If you have the nerve for coming without hotel reservations then you can jump to the most colorful area and follow the season as it progresses south.
This year our fall seemed particularly long and colorful. It helped that I was touring around with a visitor at the right time!
Of course, access times into Denali Park are also a factor to consider so you can see the changing tundra colors as well.
