I%26#39;m going to be traveling from Washington DC to Alaska next summer. We are doing a few days on our own before we catch a cruise in Seward. I%26#39;m looking to purchase a multi-city airfare so that I can fly from Washington to Anchorage and then catch a flight home at the end of my cruise from Vancouver. Does any know what is a ';reasonable'; price for air travel to and from Alaska? I can find something now for around $660 and don%26#39;t know if now is the time to book or if I should wait since I have plenty of time. Thoughts?

I%26#39;m part of a group of 5 also traveling to Alaska next June and can%26#39;t wait. Doing a cruise out of Vancouver and then flying home to Boston area from Fairbanks. I%26#39;ve been checking out flites too and am forcing myself to wait to book until Southwest comes out with their fares for June (hopefully sometime in Dec or possibly Jan?) I%26#39;m not 100% sure if waiting is the right strategy but that%26#39;s my plan...

Southwest has no impact on Alaska flights. Since I go to Alaska twice a year from the East Coast, I set a Fare Alert up with an online Travel site and purchase my tickets as soon as they drop below $350. Keep in mind that flying from DC is kinda like taking 2 flights, 1 to get across the country and the 2nd to go the same distance to Alaska. With that in mind, don%26#39;t expect to see a $99 ticket price to Alaska.
2hokies,
If you%26#39;re from the Roanoke/Blacksburg area, we are just down the road from you about an hour and 1/2. We booked airfare out of Charlotte for $394--although we didn%26#39;t do multi-city. Depending upon what your dates are and providing you%26#39;re not locked into D.C, these fares still may be available.
I searched all departure points anywhere reasonably nearby and Charlotte (Delta) had the best fares. We%26#39;re going out on June 20 and returning on July 6.
Hope you find a good one.
By the way, we had the choice of stopping in Cincinnatti (sp?)--my choice and a shorter lay over or Atlanta. The flight to Atlanta had the biggest plane, so we went with that. I hate small planes--so how will I make it on the bear trip and Mt. McKinley flight? :)
I too am traveling from the East Coast. Got my tickets from Delta in Aug. for $269.00. I know they are still offering really cheap prices( I saw one with a lay over in Atlanta, so maybe you can get a cheap ticket to Atlanta and take advantage of this) This deal was on a round trip ticket, so you may not be able to get any kind of deals. I personally do not think that if you hold out you may get a better price. You are going during prime time and the airlines know this and know we%26#39;ll pay. Good Luck
