Cordova or Yakutat

Can anyone give me some info on either places? They both look out of the way (which might mean very expensive to get to). We are interested in fishing and sightseeing and do enjoy out of the way places.

Thanks,

Courtney

Cordova or Yakutat

Good morning Courtney

Although I have never been to either one, many people here in Haines fly over to Yakutat to fish.....I think it is a smaller community than Cordova.....You can catch a flight from Juneau to Yak......

Cordova can be reached by ferry from Valdez.......or you could fly there......neither of the towns are reachable by road......and if you really like out of the way places.......you may be interested in staying in a forest service cabin.......both communities have several nearby..... fs.fed.us/r10/tongass/cabins/cabinlist.shtml

They are a great way to get away from it all and are very affordable.....

Not quite as remote is beautiful Haines..... http://hainesak.com/

If you enjoy hiking, biking, rafting, bear watching in addition to fishing......I would recommend it and can answer any questions you have in detail.........

Cordova or Yakutat

Thanks mombear! Yes Hanies is lovely. Our last visit we rented a car in Skagway and our first stop was Haines!

I don%26#39;t know about the forest cabins...I may like out of the way places but that is really roughing it!

Again, thank you.

My boys work in Cordova during the summers. We live in Tennessee. They usually fly to Anchorage, take a bus to Whittier, get on the Ferry to Cordova. This year they DROVE from TN to Anchorage, to Whittier onto the Ferry to Cordova. Coming home, sometimes they fly from Cordova to Anchorage-there is a small plane company called ERA the website is www.flyera.com there flights are usually 119.00 one way. There is also a railway to Cordova, but they have never taken that. They Love, Love, Love Cordova...its a tiny town, and food is expensive, dont know about the lodging.
