Hi to all
We are planing on staying in Juneau for 7 days %26amp; will be doing day trips from there. Is this feasible?
We are planning on staying at Auke Lake B%26amp;B (admiralty tours.) Anyone have any reviews on this B%26amp;B?
We are travelling from Ketichikan by ferry does anyone know when the 07 schedule is released? We want to travel by day, do we need a cabin?
We can%26#39;t wait to get there

Auke Lake is a beautiful area......quiet mostly residential.......have not stayed at the B%26amp;B but sounds like an ideal location.......you will need a rental car to get around, but there is only about 40 miles of road in the Juneau area.......Your host will have suggestions for day trips, but here are some of my favorites:
Hike to top of Mt Roberts, take the tram back down
Take a Kayak trip off the northern point of Douglas Island (their office is at the Auke Bay Harbor just up the road from your B%26amp;B)
or if you have the time (and $$$) take one to Admiralty Island and see the grizzlies and Pack Creek.......
Take a picnic north to Eagle Beach and a little further to the Shrine of St Terese........many photo ops and hiking trails along the way......
Downtown shops and Mendenhall Glacier will be crowded with cruise ship passengers, try to visit Mendenhall later in the day as the crowds will have thinned and you will have a better opportunity to see bears at the creek there (late July - Aug).....
Most of the roads in the Juneau area have paved bike trails along them, so if you can borrow or rent bicycles that would be fun........
Check out the mining museum at the end of Gold Creek Rd (not sure if that is the exact name of the road)......
Watch the salmon at Sheep Creek south of town.....they will be thick in July and August......
I believe the new ferry schedules are released around January.......
The last time we took the ferry from Ketchikan it left in the afternoon and arrived at Juneau early the next morning......you would not need a cabin, some people sleep in the lounge chairs or even on the top deck.......but a cabin would make for a more comfortable night........
