We are undecided what to do at our cruise stop in Haines. Excursions offered: Chilkoot Lake Cruise %26amp; wildlife explorations, Eagle Preserve float adventure, Eagle Preserve Wildlife River Adventure, Nature and Wildlife Expedition. Has anyone gone on any of those tours- pros and cons, please! Any other suggestions??? Thanks Sue

Hi Sue
Have been out on Chilkoot Lake often....beautiful lake ringed by mountains, lots of spawning salmon, eagles and you may be lucky enough to see bears....the cruise is likely on a covered pontoon boat, water is usually calm and glassy, making for lovely photo ops.....
The Eagle Preserve Float Trip involves a bus ride to the put in spot on the river and a raft float down the river....have not done this tour, but have heard visitors complain that the bus ride takes longer than the actual float trip....scenery is gorgeous, but it could be an uncomfortable trip if it is raining.......
I have taken relatives on the Eagle Preserve Wildlife River Adventure.....a fun jet boat into the upper reaches of the Chilkat River....the river is braided here so there are many channels to explore, we saw moose and eagles.....
If the Nature and Wildlife Expedition includes a trip to Steve Kroschel%26#39;s place, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys animals....it%26#39;s a favorite of every visitor we have taken there and I never pass up an opportunity to go along with them !!

We have taken the float trip, it is beautiful...but very slow. We went late in August in a dry year and there was lots of pushing of the raft, although it was nice and sunny. We also drove to Chilkoot Lake and that was really pretty, we will probably go back there again.
