The Grand Finale!

As we make July 2010 plans, considering the last two nights of our trip to Alaska, we are looking for a nice cabin (first choice) or resort for those final two nights.

The previous 10 days will have been spent in Anchorage ( B %26amp; B 2 nights), Katmai/Brooks Camp (camping 2 nights), Seward (B %26amp; B 3 nights), Denali (camping 3 nights).

We want to just hang out and enjoy the scenery, wildlife, glaciers (whatever) in the area, although not limited to Anchorage, for the last two nights. Any suggestions?

After the time spent in a tent, (probably) in the rain, hiking/mucking about who knows where, avoiding the mosquitos, and thoroughly enjoying ourselves, we want to end with a bang! I really prefer a secluded cabin, but a resort would be fine.

Thanks for all the reponses to previous posts. Your input has been invaluable!

Not sure if this is what you%26#39;re looking for, but maybe one of the cabins at Sheep Mt. Lodge:

Manitoba Maple gave you an excellent possibility. If a cabin with all the amenities is what you are looking for, I vote for that too.

If a more rustic, secluded cabin is more your forte, perhaps a cabin in the Nancy Lake State Recreation Area would fit the bill. The Bald Lake cabin is very secluded, basically on your own lake and you can rent a canoe there too. The Nancy Lake cabins appear a bit less secluded but also attractive. I am staying at one of the Nancy Lake cabins this coming summer.

Before I even read rec%26#39;s from MM and fti, I was going to say Sheep Mountain. Well appointed cabins, a great casual restaurant with a nice beer selection. It%26#39;s very near the Matanuska Glacier for a great glacier hike. Rafting and hiking in area too. We loved Long rifle lodge for lunch, overlooking the glacier. Can visit Independence Mine, musk ox farm on the way there or back.
