unusual tent camping gear question

OK, so here%26#39;s a question that may not have been asked before. When camping in Alaska (Brooks Camp and Denali) do you need the metal tent stakes, or will the long, yellow stakes work? In some parts of Arizona the ground is so hard that the yellow stakes snap. But, we have an average of 7-9'; of rain yearly in some places unlike Denali and Brooks Camp.

I have only used the metal stakes but more because they are smaller and easier to pack. Even though in Denali much of the ground has ';permafrost';, the ground should be soft enough to drive in the plastic stakes. Brooks is certainly no problem.

I am sure the folks in Ketchikan laugh at your 7-9'; of rain vs. their 160+'; of rain a year!

You should have no problem with the yellow plastic tend stakes.

The other two guys know more than I do, but I bent even my metal stakes putting them in at Wonder Lake last year. So, it might depend on what site you are camping at, too.
