Any recommendations on the following plan will be appreciated:
1. Shuttle to Mendenhall from docks
2. Cab to Brewery from Mendenhall(I%26#39;m assuming there are cabs readily available there?)
3. City bus back to Juneau from Brewery
We are looking for the most cost effective way to visit both the glacier and the brewery at our own pace.
Our other option is to catch a cab from the Brewery back to downtown, but I%26#39;m not sure how much that costs.
Any help will be appreciated!
mendenhall-brewery transportation';cost effective'; depends partly on how many people there are. With just a couple of you, the plan you mentioned is fine. It will cost more for the taxi from Mendenhall to the brewery than from the brewery back to town. If you check out the bus schedule in advance (capital transit) you can plan your brewery visit so you can catch the bus back.
If there are quite a few of you, perhaps renting a car from Rent A Wreck would work best.

mendenhall-brewery transportationIf you were to cab from Mendenhall to the brewery it would cost about $15.....maybe another $12 for the cab from the brewery back to the docks.....
The city bus was $1.50 last time I rode it....these buses are always packed with standing room only, but are fairly reliable on their schedules if you have the time to devote to all the stops....also make sure you get on the right bus loop, ask the driver to make sure......
So for the trip above it would be $7.00 ea for the shuttle plus $27 or so for the taxi plus the cost of the bus.....it may be cheaper in the long run to rent a car and use it all day !!....Rent a Wreck is the only one that delivers downtown and there cars are decent (not really wrecks).....
