As part of out trip we will be in the Soldotna area June 16-20. We would like to do a fishing/bear viewing trip with a local guide to Wolverine Creek. Is this time of year too early for seeing bears or fishing? How many people in the boats usually?

We did the trip with Talon Air in August. I really suggest you call/email them and ask. There are only 4 people in each boat (max) plus the guide. Some boats had only 2 guests. This was maybe the best part of our trip. We had the fish frozen and shipped home. Definitely fish if you have the option.

Hi. When I wrote Talon Air last year, they told me their prime viewing season was the last week of June through mid-August. I suggest e-mailing them to see if the 19th or 20th of June would be good for the combo. Likely it would be, but they%26#39;re the experts. I felt they were very honest with me (I was looking for the 3rd week of August, and was told they didn%26#39;t recommend that.) BTW, I think they limit the boats to 4 passengers, but check with them.
I%26#39;ve heard good results about Talon Air from other people on this forum, and also on another forum I%26#39;ve read. I know there are other outfitters too, but how honest they will be is another matter. We did read of one outfitter who took people bear-viewing KNOWING there was virtually no chance of seeing bears at that time of year. Sure enough, no bears....

during your dates, the Russian River, at Cooper Landing, will be having it%26#39;s early season peak run. Fishing will be excellent. I recommend you contact Kenai cache for guide information. Gwin%26#39;s lodge, next door to Kenai Cache, they offer trips to Wolverine Creek and can best inform you as to whether there will be fish and bears at Wolverine Creek during your dates of stay. Do a search for Gwins Lodge and give them a call.
Misspwestslope provided this information to me a few months ago. They did the fishing trip to Wolverine Creek; it was the highlight of their trip.
