lodging between Denali and Anchorage

Looking for a great place to stay between Denali and Anchorage. We prefer a nice off-the-roadway cabin, but a nice off-the-roadway resort would be fine. They must accept American Express.

Well, places with lodging would be Eagle River, Wasilla/Palmer area, Talkeetna area, and Cantwell, though I would not recommend staying in Cantwll. About 1/2 way is Talkeetna - not sure what businesses take AMEX. :)

Hi, head for your library and look at the Milepost for ideas - AmEx is the barrier for my memory - not a lot of the smaller places take it but the Milepost will show which credit cards places take as a rule. You might take a look at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge - they would surely take AE

WOW! Let%26#39;s hope they take American Express! This is just what we have been looking for! We will have spent the previous three nights camping in Denali, probably in the rain with the mosquitos...and want to finish our trip with a last hurrah!

We are alternating between camping and B%26amp;B for our two week trip throughout the area, and we are looking for that memorable finish. This is it!

American Express, BTW, is connected to our points/miles, and makes this place affordable for us.

Otherwise, back to the B%26amp;B.

I love TA and all the knowledgeable (can%26#39;t spell!) folks who offer such valuabel assistance. Thanks!

I just stayed at the Alaska%26#39;s Northland Inn in Trapper Creek (just north of Talkeetna). Very nice apartment about 1 mile off the Parks Highway. Very hospitable owners.

I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I know they take credit cards but not sure about AmEx. Note - I am an avid point/mile collector (also mostly with AmEx now) but you need to put the value of the points in perspective. Sometimes it is more worthwhile to forego points in order to save cash or to use a place that just doesn%26#39;t take AmEx. Here is a link to a good discussion on the value of points:

John, I always know that your post will give me something to think about! That being said, and not having yet gone to your suggested link, we/our points (Shell Vacation Club) are in excess! Great place to be! We can%26#39;t even bank them. So, use them or lose them. Now, most people only have so much vacation time, so we can convert our points to AmEx lodging and not lose them.

OK, off to your link to be educated....just hope it doesn%26#39;t ruin my day. But, wait, that has already happened...5 tons of rock to be delievered shortly and me to spread it out...Oh, and in prepping, I broke the irrigation line, which I cannot repair. Good thing I%26#39;m (hopefully) saving $ with my AmEx! LOL
