We have one spare day in Anchorage at the end of June and are looking for the best one day bear watching trip.
We realise it will be expensive and a long day - but we really really want to see bears in their natural habitat
Can anyone recommend a trip?

Rust%26#39;s trip to Brooks Falls was great. www.flyrusts.com/katmai-bear-viewing.html
Had a very experienced pilot that went one route and came back another to diversify the experience. Late June should be good for Brooks Falls and cannot imagine a place with more bears. We have been going to Alaska for 8 summers now and other than fishing (which I love), it was the best experience we have had. Cannot recommend it highly enough if you can afford it. Be aware that it can be weather dependent to do the float plane directly there. If it is too windy, they do not fly. If you are not comfortable in small planes, you may want to take motion sickness precautions but the trip is worth it.
Late June should be good for Brooks Falls (Katmai) but it is all dependent on the salmon runs and just how late in June the date actually is. I am sure that the Redoubt Bay trip is nice too but the sheer number of bears and the proximity to them was impressive at Brooks Falls.

For end of June I%26#39;d suggest Wolverine Creek alaska.org/bear-viewing/wolverine-creek.htm
It is a shorter flight then Katmai then you are on a boat viewing the bears from the water.
I took Rust%26#39;s to Redoubt Bay. It is a half-day trip as opposed to a full day to Brooks Falls. I think that late June/early July is high season there but I%26#39;m not sure how the volcano is affecting this location.
