2007 Denali Bus & Campground Reservations - new info

Here is the lastest info from the NPS regarding 2007 reservations:

2007 Denali Bus and Campground Reservations Available in December.

Doyon/ARAMARK Joint Venture, the transportation concessioner for Denali National Park and Preserve, will begin accepting advance reservations for the 2007 visitor season for shuttle buses and the park鈥檚 four largest campgrounds: Riley Creek, Savage River, Teklanika, and Wonder Lake on Friday, December 1, 2006. Reservations will be available online, by mail and fax at that time. Phone reservations will begin on February 15, 2007.

The Teklanika Campground is open to hard-sided camping only (no tents) until further notice, and there is no RV camping at Wonder Lake. Beginning December 1, approximately 65% of the shuttle bus seats and 100% of the campsites in the above campgrounds can be reserved in advance. The remaining tickets are made available for advance reservations or walk-in two days before the travel date.

The shuttle buses are designed to provide transportation along the park road for visitors who wish to view the park鈥檚 scenery and wildlife, access campgrounds, go hiking for the day or take an overnight trip into the park鈥檚 backcountry. Drivers will answer questions and help visitors spot wildlife. The shuttle bus system will operate May 19 through September 13, 2007, weather permitting.

2007 Denali Bus %26amp; Campground Reservations - new info

Thanks, Coalminer, for this great information. I will be at the computer on December 1 ready to make my reservations.

2007 Denali Bus %26amp; Campground Reservations - new info

As always we can count on you, Coalminer. Thank you for details. We won%26#39;t be be using the shuttle next year as we are staying in Camp Denali but this is a very helpful information for those who are planning their visit to Denali National Park next summer. I would only add that those who have Golden Age, Golden Access or National Park Pass do not pay an entrance fee of $10.00 per individual or $20.00 per family but need to have this document while coming to the park and using the shuttle system.

Places

We are planning a July 2007 visit to Denali. We will be puling a 18 ft trailer. We would like to spend a week inside the park and are trying to decide between the Savage River or Riley Creek campgrounds. We would prefer the one with the most privacy (not a parking lot type). What are the pros and cons between the two?

We are seasoned tent campers (many Boundary Waters Canoe Area trips, two long beach camping in the Florida Keys trips, and other Minnesota trips). Bought a trailer for a 4 month long adventure to Alaska. We will have our bikes, kayaks, fishing gear, and hiking boots along - so those activies are considerations. Will try to get our reservations Dec.1. (The only place we are planning to get reservations in advance like this)

Is there a website that has the layout of the two campgrounds?

Are we able to select the specific site when we make reservations?

Could not tell from the revervation web site.

Any help with these questions and any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you
